When it rains, it pours. Not only did the oven give up, but also the central heating. I was told that the engineer for the central heating would be coming around in the evening and since I didn’t want to be in the way, I decided to get something for the microwave. I have to say, this is something extremely rare for me to do. I decided on spare ribs.

I went to Dunnes and had a choice of four different products. I picked three of them and will give my verdict here.
Here’s my choice and verdict:

Big Jake’s Chinatown Ribs

I didn’t find a picture of the actual pack. Never mind, you see it in the top featured picture. This was actually the best of the lot. Nice and tasty, but still not really great. I guess Microwave food will never be the full Monty. It’s a product of Cork, using pork meat from all over the EU.

Rib World Barbecue Spare Ribs

RibWorld Spare Ribs

Rib World Barbecue flavoured Spare Ribs were my second favourites.  It’s a product of Tipperary, with no direct indication of where the actual meat is from. However, even if not great, it was more flavoursome then the previous review.

Big Jake’s Full Rack of Pork Ribs

Big Jakes Full Rack of Pork Ribs

The product is a produce of Cork, Ireland, using EU pork. I have to say, that I was rather disappointed. The meat was certainly nice and succulent, but the taste was rather bland. Also, there was a loads of “water” on the plate.
